DJ AM OxyContin Overdose Sparks Suicide Suspicion
In a disturbing new report from PEOPLE Magazine, a law enforcement insider with the NYPD reveals that DJ AM had eight undigested OxyContin pills in his stomach and a ninth in his mouth when he was discovered dead on the seventh floor of an apartment building on Lafayette Street in Manhattan last Friday.
The source suggests AM — whose real name is Adam Goldstein — swallowed the pills quickly in a bid to kill himself. “He wanted to die,” the PEOPLE source claims. “He was going unconscious when he took the last one. He didn’t even swallow it.”
There was a crack pipe and crack found near his body and two mirrors were propped up against the doors of the apartment. “They pushed [the door] and [the mirror] broke.” AM — who struggled with crack addiction in his 20s — “smoked a lot of crack, barricaded the doors and killed himself,” the insider claims.
In addition, the source claims law enforcement officials found a Valentine’s card in the apartment from ex-girlfriend Haley Wood that read “Thank God you’re in my life. I love you.” Next to the card were several photos of the couple in happier times. Reports over the weekend alleged that the celebrity spinner was distraught over the couple’s recent breakup.
An official cause of death is on hold pending the results of toxicology tests.
