NYPD officials suspect drugs may be involved in the Philadelphia native’s death, say WNBC sources, who claim drug paraphernalia and prescription bottles were found in Adam’s home. Goldstein — who was briefly engaged to socialite Nicole Richie in 2005 — successfully battled obesity and survived severe burns he suffered in a plane crash with Blink-182 rocker Travis Barker last September. The Learjet Goldstein and Barker were on overshot the runway and burst into flames.

(This is really sad. Rest In Peace, AM. Your talent will live on.)

He was expected to DJ at Rain at the Palms Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on Friday night.

On Friday, Barker’s ex-wife, Shanna Moakler, remarked on DJ AM’s death, on her Twitter page. “My deepest condolences for DJ AM, you were a great artist and will be severely missed. My thoughts and Prayers to his family and friends,” she said.

On Thursday, the spinner wrote on his own Twitter page, “New york, new york. Big city of dreams, but everything in new york aint always what it seems.”

The line comes from the opening lyrics of “New York, New York,” an ’80s rap hit performed by hip-hop innovator Grandmaster Flash.
