Sean “Diddy” Combs was seriously courting a leading Hollywood actress, but was left heartbroken when she turned him, claiming a romance with the Bad Boy boss would have destroyed her career.

“I liked her, so I was willing to do whatever I had to do,” Diddy reveals on the pages of the Jan/Feb issue of Playboy Magazine. “I told her, ‘I will sneak up the side of the building to see you.’ I was persistent. We started spending time together, but we were prisoners of our own celebrity.”

Whie Diddy will not name the star, he told the publication it is not British maneater Sienna Miller, who the rapper was romantically linked to in 2007 and 2008. Nevertheless, he’s sure the relationship would have been a daily source of dish for celebrity informants:

“This was going to shake up the world,” he said. “It would have been a Puff and J.Lo situation, part two,” he says.

“She took me to dinner after we got to know each other and hit me with a line that was straight out of the movies. She said, ‘You know this will never work, right?’ I knew she was right. She was so cool, the way she let me down softly, and she offered me a ride back to my hotel.”
