That's what a lot of people say when depression is discussed.I can't believe when people, referring to a comment above, say to think happy thoughts or keep yourself busy to cure depression. Please, I can't even get out of bed in the morning! I just keep taking Paxil and Xanax and pray to God that when I wake up, I'll have the energy to get out of bed, to get dressed and start my day!

I’ve had thoughts of writing a book called “Just Get Over It”. I needed to be hospitalized 7 times. Had to be talked off of a bridge once, the other times I was lucky enough to have good family and friends that seen I was getting close to killing myself and made me see help. I'm now doing a lot better, I recently noticed that I'm not thinking about killing myself, and haven't had a crying spells for no reason in quite sometime. I seem to be getting better without noticing it. I hope this means I'm on the way out. I guess I'm getting better the same way I got sick. Very slowly. I take a combo of 4 different depression drugs, and talk therapy twice a week since 2000. I never thought I'd last this long. So all you that are fighting the battle, hang in there. Some have a long fight while others are lucky enough to have a shorter battle. But it seems if we fight hard we and our family and friends all win.

I been fighting depression since 1999. I needed to be hospitalized 7 times. My psychiatrist of 5 years doesn't think I will ever get out of it. The thing that keeps me alive is my husband and kids. I know it would be devastating to them. I am currently on disability for major depression. My career is very male dominated and I have been harassed numorous times.

I have struggled with suicidal depression for many years. He cut his wrists last week. Take your medication. If it's too expensive get someone any one to help. We've all been to the gates of hell but stop and draw the line right there and don't go in. Yes the sadness seems overwhelming sometimes but it only seems that way. Keep fighting.Good luck to everyone

There is always hope.

I take Lexapro, my wife wellburtin, daughter zoloft and trying to get our son to take his ambilify. For one to become happy you must be around positivity and think positive in general. This could be difficult for those who do not have anything to share with someone in life. I will suggest that medication is never the answer. Just keep your hands busy and learn a skill or get a hobby. Idle hands are the devil's workshop.

The mind is a very influential thing.
