Dennis Quaid narrowly avoided a DUI collar after a night out in West Hollywood on Wednesday. The G.I. Joe star just as he was about to take off when police urged not to get behind the wheel – and he listened.

After attending the premiere of One Peace At A Time, Dennis, wife Kimberly and a friend left Philippe where he allegedly had too much to drink, according to RadarOnline. Dennis got behind the wheel of the car when a police car pulled up alongside side the actor’s car and urged the 55-year-old actor to not drive.

In fact, officers repeatedly told the actor, “Get out of the car.”

Instead, the party returned the restaurant and called a taxi. Good call, guys!

“You don’t want a DUI. You don’t want to end up like Mel Gibson,” screamed the waiting paparazzi.
