The Betty Ford Center has sacked the employee who is accusing trouble-prone actress Lindsay Lohan of attacking her during a dispute earlier this month.
Drug addiction counselor Dawn Holland says she was fired from the Palm Springs treatment facility, where Lohan has been detoxing from alcohol and cocaine dependency since September, for violating patient confidentiality by giving interviews about the actress. In an exclusive chat with RadarOnline.com, Holland said she was suddenly fired on Tuesday after she gave an interview about her alleged run-in with Lohan to TMZ.com.
“Betty Ford Center terminated me and I’m now going full force,” she said from her home in Palm Springs. “[It was] due to breach of patient confidentiality because I did an interview with TMZ,” said Holland, who was, until this week, a clinical technician at Lohan’s sober house.
Betty Ford spokesman Russ Patrick says Holland was let go for talking to the press and “disclosing a privileged document.” Patrick says Holland’s interview was a breach of trust and the rehabilitation process.
“When patients come to the centre for treatment, they come to a safe place where their identity is protected, where anonymity is safeguarded,” he said in an email. “Their simple priority when in treatment is to learn how to live a life free of alcohol and other drugs. Confidentiality and trust are key to the treatment and recovery process.”
Holland was reportedly paid $10,000 to tell her story to TMZ.
Meanwhile, Lindsay, 24, is being investigated by Riverside County Sheriff’s Detectives for misdemeanor battery following the spat with Holland. Turns out the bust-up was more like a punch-up!
On Dec. 12, police received a call over “hand-to-hand battery” between Holland and Lohan. In her a video chat with TMZ, Dawn Holland claims she was trying to get Lohan, and two other addicts who allegedly snuck out of the center with the star, to submit to a breathalyzer test when the actress became belligerent, pushed her, and snatched a phone from her hand, straining her arm. Dawn provided images of her injuries, which she believes support her assault claim against Lohan.
Lindsay, on the other hand, argues that Dawn has been out to get her ever since she checked into rehab, treating her “unfairly” and demanding a drug and alcohol test when she was ten minutes late for her curfew. Lindsay also says it was Holland that got physical first, prompting the Mean Girls star to shove her in retailiation.
The starlet is on probation after her 2007 DUI arrest until next August – so if she’s found guilty of these charges, she could be sent back to the slammer for 180 days.
