I watch your Meet the Press every Sunday -Today’s Interview John BoehnerSpeaker of the House Why are you abstaning asking him or any other Republican to eliminate the Bush Tax Cuts for the rich during next two years,? Are they really serious about reducing our deficits? I am afraid not. They should be confronted with this again & again. Would appreciate your comments. Why is the press so timid?. Thanks in advance,

I am watching meet the press,ll-01-09, I never get the feeling that Mr. Gregory ever pursues the pertinent issues. He will respond to what the interviewee states,but never with authority.Tdhere see3ms to be an unwritten law that I will only go so far, or I will not get the important people to interview.This morning one of the guests maligns Fox news and Gregory just sits there with his mouth open and his brain closed. Gregory is a smooth talker, like Obama but there is no substance like Obama behind the man. He pputs on a good shows like Obama.

I think choosing Dick Gregory as Tim Russert’s replacement is an insult to Russert’s memory. Gregory is humorless and about as subtle as a MAC truck. He’s spent the last several years brown-nosing George W Bush to the point of nausea. How could the network make such a choice!?!

Congratulations on your new post! I was skeptical at first, but I’m beginning to warm up to you David.
I have a question I’d like answered please, and I know you can do it.
First off, let it be know that I’m an octogenarian. I undoubtedly think differently that most other people. In other words, I’m inclined to be straight-laced, and you know what, I’m rather proud of it. I don’t plan to change anytime soon.

There’s a hyphenated word that’s used a lot in this country that really bothers me.
#1 On today’s (1/11) show there was a constant mention of “African-American” with regard to President-elect Obama.
I resent that prefix a lot. All Africans are not black to begin with even ‘tho that seems to be the connotation. In addition, the last time I checked Africa was still a continent, and not just one country.
In my Constitutional copy of the qualifications to become President of the U.S.A. I read:
“No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President….” Would President-elect Obama and those who revere him do better to omit that prefix when referring to him? I think so!

And just one more thing. Back in the 1950′s my husband was asked to work in the Atomic Energy Dept. of a local industry. He and our whole family had to go through very close scrutiny by a whole host of people before he could be given a Security Clearance. Do you know, or can you come up with what qualifications the President of the United States has to go through? And does anyone know if he has? I’ve heard a plethora of other required qualifications, BUT this category has yet to come up I believe. Can you enlighten me?
Continue to be a fair-minded journalist Dick…that would please Tim. As for me, I would be happy to hear from you.

Love the show! However, I think D. Gregory talks too fast….hard to process the interchanges among his guests.
