David Archuleta Putting Career On Hold As Parents Divorce
Life after Idol is looking a bit grim for Season 7 runner-up David Archuleta.
David, now 18, is considering putting his promising recording career on hold to care for his younger siblings as their parents battle it out in divorce court, sources close to the singer dish in the new edition of The National Enquirer.
The teen heartthrob is rumored to be concerned about how his three siblings — Daniel, 15, Melissa, 13, and Amber, 10, — are handling the split and is pondering taking a break from recording to focus on helping his family heal.
“David is talking about putting his career on the back burner while he focuses on helping his brother and sisters cope with the divorce,” says an Archie insider. “He doesn’t care how long it takes — he wants to make sure his mom and brother and sisters are OK.”
David’s father, James, filed for divorce from Lupe Archuleta earlier this year, just days after he was busted during a police raid on a massage parlor in Midvale, Utah. The couple previously filed for divorce in 2002, but later reconciled. This time, there’s little hope for a happy ending. Citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split, the couple will share joint physical custody of their three minor children.
“The embarrassment over Jeffrey’s arrest was the final straw. This time David knows he can’t save his parents’ marriage, and it is killing him,” the insider added. “In the meantime, David is doing everything he can to hold his brother and sisters together.”
Of course, complicating matter futher are Lupe’s claims that Jeffrey is secretly shielding assets.
“If Jeffrey doesn’t come clean in disclosing his financial dealings, their divorce will become a lot nastier than it has already…”

The divorce papers were in last February, and David and the family have been through about this for quite a while, and several days ago, his team announced his Christmas album tour. It seems to me that Jeff Archuleta has really low self-esteem. He constantly is trying to grab the spotlight. Everytime David releases an album, Jeff does something to overshadow what David has accomplished. Its almost as if Jeff waits to air his dirty laundry for album time. David is an angel that walks this earth. Everytime I hear his voice I can’t help but grin. I know what divorce feels like, but sometimes its for the better for all concerned. Lets hope Jeff has one decent bone in his body but it doesn’t appear that way. David has worked so hard and is such an amazing person. He deserves success and happiness.
