I think its an AWESOME cover, for pulling David away from his Idol image,which needed to happen. There is no way a smiley photo would’ve worked. Period. (There’ll be a smiley photo on the back) In addition to the SMOLDERING expression, the design is cool. Edgy. The brown and red really pop and the typography is interesting. Sure, there could’ve been other suitable photos, but a choice had to be made(or we’d be sifting through photos forever). Bottom line: I’m glad Jive decided to present David as a serious artist and not some giggly teen.

As much as it may be painful for some fans to see this more serious side of David, it is the natural progression from the cute little Idol kid into the young man – and serious musical artist that he truly is. I’ve been waiting for Archuleta’s first single / album ever since the A. Idol 7 ended. I was worried that he’d wait for something, being young and all.
It’s great that he decided to continue exploring this path, and that a recording company did take him on.
I feel the cover shot is a daring one, as suggested by RS and Telstar, with Archuleta being portrayed as a serious budding star.
Can’t wait to see him take the world by storm, gay or not!
