Dammit Janet, Fox Is Remaking ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’

Rocky Horror Picture Show Remake on Fox TV

Are you ready for a remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show? Fox is working on plans to remake the 40-year-old cult classic.

The classic musical will premiere on the small screen, but unlike the network’s upcoming live version of Grease and the recent release of Peter Pan, this musical is getting the traditional pre-recorded video treatment.

The two-hour event will be directed, executive produced, and choreographed by Kenny Ortega (Xanadu, High School Musical) and will be produced by Lou Adler and Gail Berman.

The original script will be used for filming, which means fans of the 1973 play by Jim Sharman and Richard O’Brien should be pleased on some level.

With Glee signing off in April 2015, it looks like Fox executives want to keep the tradition of musical television going for as long as humanly possible.

The original Rocky Horror received an R-rating, this time around I have a feeling the censors will be less shocked by the remade content then they were in 1973.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show continues to play at Midnight screenings all throughout the world.
