Cyndi Lauper and Kendra Wilkinson Find New Reality Home on WEtv
Is WE the new E!?
Former Playboy Playmate Kendra Wilkinson and ’80s pop trendsetter Cyndi Lauper have inked deals to appear in a pair of reality docusoaps, set for debut on WEtv later this year.
Cyndi — who was a contender on Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice in 2010 — has teamed up with that show’s producer, TV mogul Mark Burnett, to launch Cyndi. The series will follow the life of the outspoken singer and gay rights activist as she juggles life as a musician, mom, wife, Broadway composer and philanthropist.
Wilkinson has also signed a deal WE TV — home of Joan & Melissa and The Braxtons. The network has ordered 14 episodes of Kendra On Top, a series that will follow her and husband Hank Baskett’s desire to have a sibling for their two-year-old son, Hank Jr.
The former Girls Next Door star feared her reality TV career was over after E! ditched her spinoff series Kendra.
She told USA Today Wednesday:
“It’s a fresh start, you know? My life is a journey. I love to put it on TV. I felt like my life was injected with steroids [with the change]. I’m bigger, I’m better. I’m the best person, the best parent. I want to be happier, more fulfilled. I want to be on TOP.”
Production on both series will begin next month.
