As everyone knows, Tom Cruise has done horrible damage to his career over the past couple of years. Between his public criticism of Brooke Shields’ use of antidepressants post-partum and his couch jumping “I love this woman” bs, the man’s acting career was close to finito - especially since his production company, Paramount, recently dropped him.

Now, in what one can only assume is an attempt to rebuild his floundering career, Tom Cruise has apologized to Brooke Shields - not only publicly, but privately at her home in Burbank.

The 41-year-old actress said that Cruise came to her house on Thursday and apologized for bringing her into the whole debacle.

“He came over to my house, and he gave me a heartfelt apology,” Shields said Friday during an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” “…Through it all, I was so impressed with how heartfelt it was. And I didn’t feel at any time that I had to defend myself, nor did I feel that he was trying to convince me of anything other than the fact that he was deeply sorry. And I accepted it.”

I’m kind of surprised that Tom has finally slipped out of the Xenu haze long enough to think about working on his career and reputation. And Brooke Shields? That’s one classy broad right there.
