Christina Aguilera National Anthem Mixup Super Bowl XLV [VIDEO]

Uh-oh: It looks like Christina’s no Whitney!
Decked out in all black everything topped off with her signature red lip color, Christina Aguilera hit a sour note with sports fans when she flubbed some of the words to our National Anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner,” just before the kickoff of Super Bowl XLV at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Sunday. The “Burlesque” star has performed the patriotic tune dozens of times over the course of her 12-year career, even singing the anthem twice during last year’s NBA Finals, but the soon-to-be divorcee somehow managed to goof the lyrics quite noticably as approximately 100 million Americans tuned in to watch The Steelers take on The Packers in football’s championship game.
The Business Insider writes: “At about 51 seconds in, as she was about to sing the fourth line (“O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming”), she accidentally sang a hybrid of the second line: ‘What so proudly we watched, at the twilight’s last streaming….’”
Here are the correct lyrics:
“Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?”
What did you think of Christina’s Super Bowl opener?

She was more concerned with how she was going to sound, than what words she was going sing. If she would study the true history of The Anthem of when and what it was written about, she would have a picture in her mind of the words as they progress, then she could work on her vocal inflections.

She looked great, but it wasn’t her best singing performance. She was straining her high pitch vocals a bit.

One of the worst renditions anyone will ever hear. I’d rather listen to a screaming duck.
