Christina Aguilera and Lady Gaga End 2013 with Duet on “The Voice” Finale

Way to bury the hatchet, Ladies.

It’s no secret: Christina Aguilera and Lady Gaga have enjoyed a not so quiet rivalry since Mother Monster burst onto the pop scene in 2008.

It all started when Gaga claimed her then burgeoning career got a big boost when Xtina was accused of stealing her look. The multiplatinum-selling singer performed at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards wearing platinum blonde hair extensions, a black catsuit, and a mask, leading many critics to claim she was swagger jacking Gaga’s signature look.

The “LoveGame” singer responded with a sort of backhanded compliment for the pint-sized powerhouse:

“Well, it was very flattering when it happened. She’s such a huge star and if anything I should send her flowers, because a lot of people in America didn’t know who I was until that whole thing happened. It really put me on the map in a way, though of course I don’t just want to be remembered for the Christina Aguilera scandal.”

Gaga added:

“There are no hard feelings with Christina at all. What it showed me was, even though I’ve only been on the commercial market for seven or eight months, I’ve really burned graphic images of my visuals onto the irises of my fans. They saw a huge, Grammy-winning star who’s been around for years and they recognized Lady Gaga. That to me is quite an accomplishment.”

Aguilera responded by denying that she even knew who Gaga was and allegedly blamed the buzzed-about failure of her heavily-promoted fourth album, Bionic, on her pop nemesis.

“Christina thinks fans saying she’s ‘Gaga lite’ has thwarted her success. They’ve slammed her latest image as a poor imitation.”

But that’s all water under the bridge now. On Tuesday night’s Season 5 finale of The Voice, the peroxide powerhouses hit the stage for a rousing duet of Gaga’s single, “Do What U Want.”
