The average age of weaning worldwide is 7. Just because the US is puritanical and thinks that boobs are just for sex doesn’t mean that this is their true purpose. Their true purpose is to feed our children. I love how the American media has taken something beautiful (a mother feeding her child) and made it into something dirty. I breastfed my children until ages 4 years and 2 years. My boobs were big before I started and they are big now. My children received the best nutrition that I could offer them. Not some chemicals that come out of can.

I have been lactating since 2005, breasfed first child and now second child who just turned two. Clearly, it is the woman who does not breastfeed or just does it for a few weeks, is the woman that is most self indulgent. It takes a lot of time and energy to breastfeed and I am confident while it must produce its own benefits (large breasts), certainly nobody would breastfeed for any other reason that that if the child and mother/child relationship. Clearly. Anything thinking celebs breastfeed for vanity, certainly has never breastfed for very long and knows nothing of what they are talking about. Finally, I have huge breasts, so huge I look like Pamela Anderson and as a matter of fact, when I do stop brestfeeding, I will be getting a breast reduction! I think large breasts are hidious! The more athletic look, model flat-chested yoga looking mom looks so much classier! (just my big boobed opinion).

Three cheers for a nursing celeb mom. And, moms who think extending nursing is gross are often deep down guilty they didn’t manage to nurse for one reason or another. No, it doesn’t always go easily in the beginning. i had every problem under the sun, but so glad I stuck it out. I nursed oldest til she was three and tandem nursing her with younger sibling for 18 months. and that youngest is still nursing at 3. We joke that it’s time to stop, but clearly she had a need for that time with mom. Why would I take away the thing that makes her so happy. soon enough the day will come when she won’t want it. Why rush it?

All the breastfeeding haters can keep pumping their kids full of melamine, fluoride and chlorine. I’m going to keep breastfeeding my 2.5 year-old twins as long as it works for us. People who are grossed out by breastfeeding need to grow up. Christina proves once again she’s no Britney by doing the right thing.

yea for Christina!!! My youngest is almost 18 months old and he is still BFing!! I dont plan on stopping until he decides its time to stop. its the best thing for him and I am very proud that I can do that for him. So no matter what her reasons for BFing good for her for even doing it because a majority of women dont!! :) YEA FOR YOU CHRISTINA!!! Keep up the good work :)

Lisa – have YOU ever breastfed a child? I have three kids – the y0ungest is going to be 2 next week and YES I am still breastfeeding her. The other two stopped on their own right before their 2nd birthdays. I can tell you that I NEVER imagined myself as one of “those” moms who breastfeed in public. And, once I tried it after my first child was born, I almost gave up. I had mastitis and had to be treated with antibiotics. My breasts hurt so much I spent several days in tears. Same thing happened with my second and third. Is it worth it? Of course. Come on. American women are such wimps about this stuff. My kids have rarely been sick, are smart, social and very well rounded, secure individuals. Would this be so if they weren’t breastfed? Maybe. I don’t know. All I know is I did the best I could for THEM which turned out in the long run to also be the best thing for me. I am 45 years old and can still enjoy those sweet, tender moments with my daughter because she wants to.

Sounds like you don’t know much about this subject at all. It’s not “yucky” or “gross” unless of course you are a teenager watching someone breastfeed for the first time. But teenagers pop their zits in the mirror and I find this kind of gross. I hardly think this is in the same category.

Extended breastfeeding is nasty. I know of a woman named Jeanette who breastfed her favorite daughter for 3 years. That kid has mental problems and the breastfeeding sure didn’t make her very healthy. I suspect Jeanette wishes the kid, who is now 15, was still sucking on her.

Seriously all those Mothers out there who Breastfeed and think you are better then the Mothers who Forumla feed you should be ashamed of yourself!!!!!!! Does it really matter if a child is Breastfed or not…isnt the important thing that the Child is Loved, Cared For and Fed PERIOD Breast or Formula?!?!?! Some people cant do it and for this you look down on them….Really??? Your NO better then a BUM on the Streets begging for Money for DRUGS!!!!! Just because you Breastfeed does NOT make you a Good Mother…Really it doesnt! The important think is that the Child eats and gets his/her nourishment!!!!!!!! So really, to all those Breastfeeding Mothers who look down on people who DONT Breastfeed…get a grip and get a life!!!!! ;)

Come on if you really think that she is that shallow that the only reason she is breastfeeding is to keep her large breasts you are crazy! Just because she loves the side effects of nursing doesnt mean that is the only reason she is doing it.
