The Bachelor’s Chris Harrison could soon be a leading contender on the reality show that made him a small screen celeb. The 40-year-old ABC host and his college sweetheart wife Gwen Jones are throwing in the towel after nearly 20 years of marriage.
In a statement to People magazine on Thursday afternoon, Chris and Gwen revealed that “after much heartfelt consideration” they’ve decided to end their 19 year marriage.
“Though we have made this incredibly difficult decision to separate, our love and mutual respect remain, and we look forward to sharing in the lives of our wonderful children.”
The pair will share custody of their two sons, Joshua, 9, and Taylor, 7, according to In Touch Weekly — which first reported news of the split. An insider told the tab:
“They are still really close and remain the best of friends. They’ve been taking turns with their kids so they can both see them as much as possible. It has been really amicable, with no other parties involved and Chris has been a total professional while filming The Bachelorette.”
Harrison returns to the tube to host the latest season of The Bachelorette, premiering May 14 on ABC.
