Chris Brown Music Removed From Radio Station Playlists
Hasta La Vista, Chrissy!
Radio stations in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Indianapolis have pulled Chris Brown’s music from their playlists due to the singer’s alleged involvement in a weekend assault against his longtime girlfriend, Rihanna.
In a statement on their website Tuesday, Cleveland’s music station 96.5 KISS-FM announced that they will not play Chris’ music on their station until the alleged domestic violence dispute surrounding the singer and his girlfriend Rihanna is resolved.
“In light of the events with the Chris Brown/Rihanna abuse situation, Java Joel was taking several comments on his evening show Monday, February 9th,” says KISS-FM program director Bo Matthews. “His listeners have strong feelings about these unfortunate events…I then made the decision to rid the whole station of Chris Brown songs while this plays out.” Matthews added that, “We are fans of Chris Brown’s music, and this is not something that will last forever.”
KISS FM personality Java Joel pulled the 19-year-old’s music on Monday after receiving several calls from enraged listeners that wanted the singer’s tunes booted from the airwaves.
Indianapolis pop station WNOU-FM (100.9) pulled Chris Brown hits, like “Run It” and “Yo,” from its playlist on Tuesday after 52 percent of listeners voted to bounce the accused woman beater.
The station says the songs may reappear when the legal issues are resolved.
“We are encouraging our listeners to speak out against domestic violence,” WNOU program director Tim Rainey said.
