China Does ‘Star Wars’ Right: 500 Stormtroopers Flock To The Great Wall

The third and possibly final trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens debuted on Monday night, so as a result, the whole world has gotten just a little Star Wars crazy. But perhaps none more so than the entire Great Wall of China.

Disney arranged a promotional event in China to coincide with the release of the trailer, in which Star Wars fans of all ages and walks of life came out to watch the trailer projected onto the Juyongguan section of the Great Wall. Fans came decked out in costumes and hefted their fake lightsabers, posing for some sick photo-ops.

But the real magic/weirdness of the event was when the lights came up after the screening and revealed 500 miniature stormtroopers standing sentry on the Great Wall. Creepy, awesome, or both?

Most likely both. But the crowd took it all in stride after immediately (probably) peeing their pants in terror. And then they took a massive amount of pictures, because that’s what we do.

Appropriately, the event was named “The Force Awakens on the Great Wall.” And so it did.
