Will Smith and wife Jada may believe it’s perfectly okay to let children take charge of their own destinies — but the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) has other ideas.
A scandalous photo of Will and Jada’s 13-year-old daughter, Willow, lounging in bed with topless actor Moises Arias…age 20…went viral earlier this month. The Pinkett Smiths have been candid about their go with the flow approach to parenting, often attracting criticism from celeb gawkers. This time, however, Will and Jada’s unwillingness to chastise their kids has attracted the attention of an entity far more dangerous than those outspoken (read: annoying) critics on Twitter: The government.
Radar Online snitches claim DCFS opened a formal investigation into the goings-on in Will and Jada’s home after that snapshot of Willow and Moises first hit the blogosphere three weeks ago. Agency officials will be questioning not only Mom and Dad, but Willow, Moises and the Pinkett Smith’s eldest child, son Jaden, 15, as well.
“The investigation was formally opened last week and is being taken very seriously by the department. Will and Jada have been extremely cooperative with officials. Of course they aren’t happy that their parenting skills are under scrutiny, but they understand. Social workers will also be talking separately with Willow and they also want to talk to the young man in the picture with her as well. This won’t just be one or two visits with the family, and it will likely be an open investigation for at least a month.”
Will has remained mum in the wake of the pic scandal, but Jada didn’t shy away from giving the media a piece of her mind when paps caught up with her outside Los Angeles International Airport shortly after the image leaked.
“There was nothing sexual about that picture or that situation. You guys are projecting your trash onto it. You’re acting like covert pedophiles and that’s not cool.”
