Oscar-winner Charlize Theron’s has signed on to star in the fourth edition of Mad Max, the ’80s film series named for the road warrior famously played by Mel Gibson in 1985′s Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.

Charlize is gearing up for Mad Max: Fury Road, which will begin shooting in Australia next August, according to Variety.

Franchise director George Miller hasn’t decided what strapping new actor — if any — will be stepping into the boots last worn by the now 53-year-old Gibson.
