Droves of viewers sat glued to their tubes to attend Charlie’s funeral and meet Ashton’s character, suicidal internet billionaire Walden. Almost 28 million people watched the season nine debut. That’s the highest number of viewers who’ve ever tuned in to the show. and double the number who tuned in to the 2010 season premiere.

Turns out, Charlie’s a pretty popular guy too. The “Winningest Man in Showbiz” is now Comedy Central’s most-watched roastee ever — trumping even Joan Rivers, Flavor Flav, Donald Trump, and David Hasselhoff! The Monday premiere of The Roast Of Charlie Sheen scored big with viewers on-air and online. The roast pulled in 6.4 million total viewers, making this special the No. 1 highest-rated Comedy Central roast and the most watched telecast in network history among folks 18- 49.
Sheen even shattered the viewership record set by Jeff Foxworthy in 2005.
