Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford is hopping mad after an Internet dating site used his likeness in a promotional ad without his permission.

“Find guys and girls near you,” an ad for WooMe.com reads next to a photo of the 23-year-old actor, who portrays Nate Archibald on The CW series.

“They had no right to use his name or photo,” Chace’s rep Evelyn Karamanos told the NY Daily News on Tuesday. “He is not the spokesperson.”

WooMe says the photo flub is just an honest mistake.

“We used a picture that had been uploaded to our site by one of our users, which we mistook for a real user,” says Steven Sesar, vice-president of marketing for WooMe. “Upon notification that the image was not a real user but a known celebrity, we immediately pulled the ad in question and deactivated the user’s profile that contained the fake image.”
