Song-and-dance man Zac Efron is eager to star in a movie adaptation of the Tony-winning Broadway musical Memphis, but it looks like the High School Musical heartthrob is in for some stiff competition from actual Memphis native and former boy bander Justin Timberlake.

Both stars want the lead role, BroadwayWorld has revealed.

Zac Efron’s looking awfully steamy in the scorching-hot desert!

It’s all for Details Magazine, on newsstands Aug. 17. Zac — who has been dating his former High School Musical co-star Vanessa Hudgens for nearly four years — talked about resisting the temptations of being single.

“I rack my brain thinking, ‘Why am I not out there playing the field?’ But it’s not in my heart.”

Zac Efron was recently spotted coming out of a Manhattan strip join, and during appearance on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live Wednesday, a bashful Zac jokingly recalled how he broke the news to longtime girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens that he was going to the boob bar.

The actor and two male friends — including his High School Musical co-star Corbin Bleu — visited Flashdancers Gentlemen’s Club on Broadway on Sunday night. It was Zac’s first visit to such an establishment and the group had such a great time, Zac dropped about $2,000.

They stayed until 3 AM.
