Winona Ryder says she has no hard-feelings towards Angelina Jolie after the pouty-lipped beauty upstaged her in the 1999 drama Girl, Interrupted.

Winona played the lead role in the film about a teenager admitted to a mental hospital, but it was Angelina’s portrayal of neurotic patient Lisa that earned a Best Supporting Actress Oscar.

“I knew from the outset that whoever played Lisa was going to get all the attention. At one point they asked if I wanted to play Lisa and I said, ‘No, I want to be Susanna’,” Winona revealed in an interview with Empire Magazine this weekend.

“But there was no resentment. When it came out people almost felt bad for me. But I expected it all along. I was really happy with the film, and really proud of it.”

Winona added that she was happy Angelina’s performance was so well-received by critics because “[Jolie] wanted very much to be taken seriously and not just judged on her looks and she conquered that.”

The actress underwent a dramatic makeover to convince the film’s producers that she was perfect to star as Veronica, a high school girl desperate to be accepted a beautiful group of baddies run by four girls named Heather.

“That was such as special movie for me, and still is,” Winona reveals in the new issue of Empire Magazine. “It was the first time I really went after a role. I’d really only done character roles up to that point, I’d never played a pretty girl. And they didn’t want me because they didn’t think I was pretty enough.

“So I went and had my hair and make-up done at some expensive salon because I was determined to show them. I told them in a meeting that they didn’t even have to pay me!”

Winona also revealed there will be a sequel to the popular movie, which also starred Christian Slater and Shannen Doherty.

“Whatever you hear, there is a sequel in the works. I swear to God. But for some reason the writer Dan Waters and director Michael Lehman don’t want to talk about it. I’ve been wanting to do a sequel forever. There is a story, and Christian has agreed to come back as a kind of Obi-Wan character.”

In March, it was revealed that Heathers: The Musical will open in L.A. in 2010.

The actress has reportedly been involved in a series of top secret readings this week for a role in the musical, which will begin touring next year.

Convicted shoplifter Winona Ryder is caught in the middle of an alleged jewelry theft.

The troubled actress, who was famously caught stealing from a Saks Fifth Avenue store in 2001, stands accused of lifting approximately $124,000 worth of Bulgari jewels she borrowed for a November 20 event sponsored by Marie Claire Magazine in Madrid, TMZ.com reports.

Winona reported the diamond-encrusted bracelet and ring missing sometime after she left them at her hotel to be picked up by someone from Marie Claire. She says she left the jewels at the hotel’s front desk for safekeeping. Hotel management , however, claims they never received the jewels, insisting that they have no surveillance footage showing Ryder handing over the diamonds.

The jewelry is still missing.

Winona Ryder was hospitalized in West London on Wednesday.

The 37-year-old actress fell ill while on a flight to Heathrow from Los Angeles and was briefly hospitalized in the UK, a publicist for the actress has confirmed.

“The plane had a scheduled landing. As a precaution, [Ryder] was taken to the hospital and released within an hour.”

A rep for sticky-fingered actress Winona Ryder denies that the Heathers star is engaged. According to the Monday afternoon Snitch Circuit, Winona and BF Blake Sennett reportedly announced her engagement to guests at the Valentino show during Paris Fashion Week last Thursday.

“It’s not accurate. They’re dating and they have been dating for some time, but they’re not engaged.”

If Winona said that to me, I would be running towards the nearest bed, be it on camera or not. Sure she is eleven years older than me, but so what!? And honestly, why the heck does she want Ted Logan from Bill & Ted, the guy that played in Speed, or the guy that basically had one line in the Matrix: “whoa!”?

I shake my head at both of them. Him for not taking advantage of the situation, and her for wanting to be with Keanu Reeves.
