In an interview on an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show airing Monday, comedienne Wanda Sykes reveals to Ellen that she was diagnosed with breast cancer — news that prompted the star to undergo a double mastectomy.

The comedienne and talk show host — who welcomed twins with her partner eight months ago — sustained the injury during production on her FOX late night program, The Wanda Sykes Show, last Thursday, Sykes tells The Insider’s Niecey Nash.
The funnywoman battled through the pain and carried on with the recording. It is not known how Sykes broke her foot.

PEOPLE.com reports that the comedienne’s wife gave birth to a boy and a girl on April 27. Olivia Lou weighed 6 lbs., 7 oz. at birth and son Lucas Claude weighed 7 lbs., 9 oz.
“All are happy and healthy and at home,” says a rep for the couple.
