WJLA, a Washington DC area television station, is doing an excellent job of courting controversy, airing a clinical video of two women performing self breast exams.
This is a pretty airtight way to drum up ratings for sweeps, as they have a perfect defense (”what? we’re trying to save lives here!”) while still getting to show naked women on the local news. The breast exams aired last night at 5 and 11 EST, and will supposedly be airing again today. I’ve searched high and low for videos, but there are none as of yet. Expect that to change though with the reairings today and the entire thing blowing up into a huge deal because Americans are weird about breasts. Read the rest of this entry »
After filming in Malibu for Pirates of the Caribbean 3 (due out in May ‘07) Johnny spent some time with his adoring fans signing autographs. Sporting Captain Sparrow’s twin-braided beard, along with a pirate-themed t-shirt, Depp was looking somewhat like a modern-day pirate might. He took time to sign several autographs before heading out in an SUV amidst a horde of screaming girls, waving all the way.
I’ve always perceived Johnny Depp as dark and moody, and a bit of a recluse. It’s good to see him playing to the crowd and looking happy and relaxed. The guy’s got lots to be happy about, what with the success of his Jack Sparrow role and his re-kindled sex-symbol status. Whether you’re a Johnny fan or not (and who isn’t?) he’s definitely doing something right because at 43 years old he’s attracting more ‘screaming girls’ than ever before.
MTV announced today that both Shakira and the band OK Go have just been added to the list of performers at the Video Music Awards. They join an already long list slated to perform that night, including Panic! At the Disco, T.I., The Killers, Ludacris w/Pharrell, The All-American Rejects and The Raconteurs. Jack Black will host the night’s festivities, and among the list of presenters are the names Axl Rose, Lindsay Lohan, Kanye West, Paris Hilton, Diddy, LL Cool J, Snoop Dogg, Pussycat Dolls and 50 Cent. And that barely even names a few.
OK Go, from Chicago, plans to perform a live version of their internet hit “Here It Goes Again” at the show which airs August 31st at 8pm ET. The band posted the video for the song, which showcases their unusual (and hilarious!) treadmill dancing abilities, on YouTube.com and have been steadily entertaining viewers ever since. The VMA’s will be their first live performance of the song.
Well I haven’t heard anything about whether OK Go will attempt the treadmills live at the awards or go for something more traditional (and safer), but that video is a total hoot! I love it when people look like they’re having a good time, and I can’t imagine they got through that shoot without at least a few good laughs.
