Cyberspace is still atwitter over this pic of Meghan McCain’s cleavage.
The daughter of former GOP presidential candidate John McCain set off a media firestorm late Wednesday after she Twitpic’d an image of herself busting out of a tank top. After getting wind of the backlash, Meghan wrote on her Twitter, “I took a fun picture not thinking anything about what I was wearing, but apparently anything other than a pantsuit I am a slut.” She later added, “When I am alone in my apartment, I wear tank tops and sweat pants, I had no idea this makes me a ’slut’, I can’t even tell you how hurt I am.”
She has since taken down the photo, but has you can see it on Meghan’s column at The Daily Beast, where the outspoken 24-year-old sounds off on the incident — and the controversy that followed — in an essay that followed in a post titled: “Don’t Call Me a Slut.”
I thought was funny and silly—and within a few hours I had caused a minor media scandal. I spent most of the next day thinking about what exactly was so shocking about the picture, why there was such an immediate and nasty overreaction. After all, it’s not like I was caught making a sex tape. I certainly didn’t pose nude for Playboy. And I hadn’t even exposed a nipple.
So why all this Sturm und Drang?
Could it be it’s because I have breasts? Because for those of you who didn’t know, I have two. They’re larger than some women’s and not as big as others. I don’t usually show off my cleavage—as I did in the photos I posted—which I will admit is not the smartest thing I have ever done. But it’s just not worth the drama it caused.
Much ado about Double DDs: Meghan McCain, a Daily Beast columnist and daughter of Sen. John McCain, apologized late Wednesday after posting a poppin’ TwitPic of herself that’s stirring up criticism.
The photo in question shows 24-year-old Meg in a tank top, holding a copy of Andy Warhol’s biography. he accompanying tweet referred to her “’spontaneous’ night in.” Read the rest of this entry »
Move over, Twilight! The Forehead has joined the Twitterverse. Rihanna posted her inaugural Tweet on Tuesday with the uber-brief: “The Wait Is Ova. Nov 23 ‘09.”
Super! Does that mean we can expect a new Ri-Ri album as a stocking stocker this holiday season? MTV.com sure thinks so! If Rihanna is releasing a new LP next month, the collection would be the “Umbrella” star’s fourth album, and the follow-up to her 2007 charttopper Good Girl Gone Bad.
Damn those Ronsons! Why won’t they just let Linds be great? Our favorite bisexual Mean Girl is airing her crotchless panties on Twitter again. Not literally, of course. The unlucky in love Lindsay Lohan has taken the outbursts of the broken-hearted to social media, where she vented at length on Tuesday morning about The Ronson Clan’s evil plot to keep her away from one true love, celebrity spinner Samantha Ronson.
Oh brother… “I’m in love with her, as she is with me,” LiLo writes of on-again/off-again flame Samantha Ronson. “Her family will cut her off if she contacts me…they hate her brilliance&resent her happiness.”
Throwing e-tantrums — on a public forum, no less — will certainly convince those big bad Ronsons of your sanity, Lindsay. (Insert Eye-Roll Here….)

Gee, Billy Ray Cyrus sure looks a lot like Jimmy Fallon these days! The country crooner wants everyone to know that he “ain’t no Twitter quitter” like his daughter Miley.
The Hannah Montana star left the Tweeners in tears last week when she deleted her Twitter page in a bid to keep her private life more private. Shortly after, she rapped a video explanation to her fans, but you’ve just got to see Billy Ray’s rap response video that aired on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night.
It’s The Blair Witch Project all over again! Paranormal Activity, a low budget horror film shot with a camcorder two years ago, has become one of the top grossing films in America, thanks to social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.
Miley Cyrus isn’t the only celeb divorcing Twitter.
Incoherant crackhead Courtney Love has also jumped ship on the popular social media website. Courtney’s Twitter page, @courtneylover79, where the former Hole frontwoman often served up difficult-to-interpret rants, shut down Sunday. A second account, @clcobain, has also been closed.
While no reason has been given for Courtney’s departure from Twitter, earlier this month, the star was sued for defamation by a fashion designer who claims the acid-tongued rocker made imflammatory remarks about her in a series of Tweets.
Earlier this week, Courtney’s 17-year-old daughter, Frances Bean, deleted her own Twitter page — but not before sprouting off an scornful essay scolding nemesis Ali Lohan.
On Thursday, the Tween World came to a standstill as Miley Cyrus sent her final Tweet and disappeared into cyber-oblivion. In a new YouTube vlog, the Disney starlet breaks into song as she explains her controversial decision to quit Twitter — abandoning her 2 million followers on the popular microblogging social media site.
And according to Miles, her rumored love interest and The Last Song co-star Liam Hemsworth, has very little to do with why her Tweeting days are done.
“Yeah, the rumors are true, I deleted my Twitter,” the 16-year-old raps. “I had to say goodbye,” she continues, “and this little rap is to tell my fans why.”
“I want my private life private,” she raps. “I ain’t livin’ for tabloids, I’m living for me.”
