Last week, high school senior Erin Westrate claimed that a middle-aged man bit her, after making sexually suggestive comments, while watching the film at the Cinema Carousel in Norton Shores. “Every so often if I said something or my friend said something he would lean back and make a sexual comment that was very unnecessary and not needed,” Erin told the media after the alleged attack. Police even released a grainy image of the suspect –said to be a five-foot-tall white male between 30 and 45-years-old — in a hot pursuit to nab the bloodsucking bandit.

Now, however, police say the girl was never bitten by the man and that she embellished her story. Erin has confessed that there had been mutual flirting between her and an unknown man who sat in front of her and a friend during the movie last Friday night.

The teen may face criminal charges for filing a false police report.

Box office champ The Twilight Saga: New Moon is feeling the heat from a feminist professor, who accuses the fantasy epic of objectifying women and reinforcing gender stereotypes.

Carmen Siering, assistant professor of English and women’s studies at Ball State University, alleges that the second installment of the vampire series portrays Bella, played by Kristen Stewart, as a meek and mild young woman who remains emotionally-dependent on the “overbearing” Edward even after he kicks her to the curb; fueling the gender stereotype of women’s dependence on men.

“With just a moment of critical analysis, feminists can’t be too happy about how the latest episode in the Twilight series, adapted from Stephenie Meyer’s popular books, represents a young woman and her place in the modern world,” Siering wrote in an essay featured in the Winter edition of Ms Magazine.
“In fact, just moments after Edward leaves her, Bella stumbles in the woods and refuses to get up, lying in the muck until a strong, bare-chested man carries her out,” Siering added. “Later, we see her sitting in her room, staring out the window, as the months roll by. When she isn’t sitting and staring, she is in bed having nightmares. Very empowering,” the professor continued.

“What finally rouses her is a vision of Edward-which she sees after she hops on a motorcycle with a creepy guy. Even this ghostly Edward is bossy, scolding Bella to be careful, but it seems Bella likes, or needs, to be bossed around.”

Siering concluded: “This is a film full of gender stereotypes-testosterone-driven male aggression, females who pine away over lost loves, boys who fix motorcycles and the girls who watch them. There’s something scary about New Moon, but it’s in the human encounters, not those with the monsters.”

“Amy thinks Robert is cool and loves the sexuality around vampires. She’s planning on having a huge blood and guts vampire party on New Year’s eve at her house,” a snitch close to the 26-year-old told London’s Daily Star Wednesday.

Taylor has been romantically-linked to his Valentine’s Day co-star for weeks, but the pair have refused to respond to reports that they are a couple.

Under the pact, FX will start running last year’s Twilight, the first movie in the franchise, beginning in late 2011. The Twilight Saga: New Moon which opened at $142.8 million domestically last weekend, will be available in late 2012. Eclipse, which is slated for a June 30 release, will have its premiere on FX in early 2013.

As part of the package deal with Summit, FX also gets the rights to air The Hurt Locker, Push, and Knowing.

According to Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agent in Charge John Gilbride, the Big Apple is one several cities battling the Twilight drug craze. Heroin bags adorned with images from the smash film series Heroin baggies featuring a cartoon of Pattinson and other Twilight characters have been gaining popularity all over the East Coast in the months leading up to the much-hyped premiere of the vampire franchise’s second installment, New Moon, DEA officials say.

The 23-year-old actor could land as much as 1.5million-dollar an episode as part of the deal, which could kick in as early as next year, The Daily Star dished on Sunday. Pattinson’s co-star — and rumored real-life love interest — Kristen Stewart, who plays his on-screen human love Bella Swan in the The Twilight Saga, is also being pursued by parties close to the TV deal.

Both the stars would be free to work on the TV version almost immediately — they recently wrapped work on third film in the series, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

That’s a three-day box office record for a non-summer opening.

The vampire flick crushed the previous opening-day record of $62.2 million, held by The Dark Knight. New Moon also made history by earning $26.3 million from midnight screenings alone.

The No. 1 domestic debut for Summit Entertainment’s New Moon was more than twice the $69.6 million overhaul over the same weekend last year for Twilight, the first film in the franchise based on the novels by Stephenie Meyer.

“Obviously, with the success of ‘Twilight’ itself, sequels being what they are will generate X-number of dollars more, particularly if it’s a satisfying sequel,” said Richie Fay, Head of Distribution for Summit.

The next Twilight film may cater to a crowd slightly older than the screaming tweeners that helped make the franchise a box office smash. Series star Robert Pattinson has revealed that the follow-up to New Moon could receive an adult rating when it opens in theaters in June 2010.

Robert describes Eclipse — the third and final film of The Twilight Saga — as a “massively different movie” that could potentially be rated R due to its extensive battle sequences.

Speaking to SiTV, Pattz said: “It’s a massively different movie to New Moon. There’s so many more main parts, and having these huge battle sequences, I’ve never done anything like it in any of the other movies. I think it’s really pushing the – I don’t know what rating Twilight was in England, like the American PG-13 or 18 – I think it’s pushing it to the absolute limit. It would be so funny if it was R-rated.”
