T.R. Knight is returning to TV: The actor’s been keeping busy on the stage since departing his role as Dr. George O’Malley on Grey’s Anatomy in 2009, but he was recently tapped to guest star on a fall episode of the NBC crime drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (SVU). Knight’ll play a suspected serial rapist who insists that he is innocent despite the evidence against him. The Law & Order gig will be Knight’s first television job since he asked to written off the popular medical drama.

T.R. Knight, who played Dr. George O’Malley on ABC’s medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, will star opposite Star Trek star Patrick Stewart in David Mamet’s Broadway production A Life in the Theatre.

Knight will play the role of John, a young actor being mentored by a stage vet (played by Stewart).

Rehearsals are set to begin in August.

Splits are popping up all over Gay Hollywood this afternoon. Just as Rosie announced strife in her marriage to wife Kelli Carpenter, we received word that former Grey’s Anatomy star T.R. Knight and his boyfriend of two years, Mark Cornelsen, have called it quits.

No word on what caused the parting of the ways, according to In Touch Weekly, which first learned of the split. Perhaps it had something to do with the age difference between the lovers; Mark is 16 years younger than 36-year-old T.R.

Former Grey’s Anatomy star T.R. Knight is ready to follow ex-castmates Ellen Pompeo and Katherine Heigl’s footsteps to parenthood.

“I want a baby,” Knight confessed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Tuesday. “I don’t know if it’s going to end up working out, but that would be something I would like.”

T.R. Knight is speaking out about his decision to leave his multimillion gig on the ABC medical drama Grey’s Anatomy.

The former screen star says that he made his decision to walk away from the hit ABC show after executive producer and Grey’s creator Shonda Rhimes drastically cut his screen time and morphed his on-screen alter-ego, Dr. George O’Malley, into someone he “didn’t understand and couldn’t respect.”

T.R. says a “breakdown in communication” with Rhimes prompted him to ask to be let out of his $14 million contract three years early.

“There just comes a time when it’s so clear that moving on is the best decision,” openly gay Knight says in this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly, on newsstands Friday.
