The New Moon soundtrack has clawed its way to the top position on the Billboard Top 200.
Billboard –which features tunes by Thom Yorke, Death Cab for Cutie, and The Killers — says the album sold 153,000 copies in its first full week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Wow — we haven’t heard any new Britney gossip in ages. Here’s a tidbit: The comeback kid will debut the video for her song sleazy single “3″ this Friday!
“1…2…3 days until the premiere of my new video but don’t stress, I will be sending out lots of pics and clips for the next 3 days,” she wrote on her official site Wednesday.
Adam Lambert already knows his For Your Entertainment album cover looks like a 1986 high school yearbook photo, thank you very much! Glampot took on critics of the Rihanna in Drag-esque cover art that hit the blogosphere like visual vomit late Tuesday.
“Thank you to those who appreciate and understand that the album cover is deliberately campy,” Adam tweeted. “It’s an omage (sic) to the past. It IS ridiculous.”
Okay…..The phrase “Lame Excuse” springs to mind, but whatever you say, Adam.
America’s favorite Idol runner-up wants his haters to know that there’s a reason his album cover looks the way it does — it’s exactly what he was going for, cheesy.
“For those that don’t get it: oh well…Glad to have gotten your attention,” Adam added. “Androgyny. Rock n Roll.”
Los Angeles came to a standstill on Tuesday night as Hollywood A-listers joined the Jackson brothers for the premiere of the King of Pop’s concert rehearsal movie This Is It.
The film – featuring Michael Jackson’s final stage performances before his death in June – has been cut from 80 hours of videotape filming the star’s last few days of rehearsals for the concerts planned for London’s O2 arena in July.
Last night’s Los Angeles launch coincided with the worldwide release of the film, which premiered across 15 cities including London, Seoul, South Korea; Johannesburg, South Africa; Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and Berlin, Germany.
The tragic superstar’s brothers Jermaine, Tito, Jackie and Marlon walked the red carpet alongside Will Smith, Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry and Paris Hilton.
U2 will perform a free concert to help the city celebrate 20 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall, MTV announced on Tuesday evening.
The Irish rockers will perform in front of the Brandenburg Gate on Nov. 5 during the network’s Europe Music Awards, hosted by Katy Perry. The band’s performance will beamed via satellite to the awards ceremony at Berlin’s nearby O2 World Arena.
The Berlin Wall fell Nov. 9, 1989, ending almost 30 years of separation between east and west. In a statement Tuesday, U2 manager Paul McGuinness said it would be exciting to be in Berlin, “20 years almost to the day since the wall came down.”
U2’s 1991 album Achtung Baby was partly inspired by the band’s stay in the city.
American Idol glam rocker Adam Lambert unveiled the official cover art for his debut album via RCA Records on Tuesday. All I can say is: Hello there, Photoshop! Not sure what look Adam was going for here, but this eye-popping visual disaster reminds me of the set of portraits you’d get after a makeover at Glamour Shots.
The powerhouse is pictured on the sleeve caressing his face with a black leather glove while sporting his trademark multi-colored eye shadow. I mean…It’s just so…Really, Adam? Why do you look like an understudy for Rihanna? Is it just me or does this look startlingly similar to something Madonna would have pulled during the “Like A Virgin” era? SMH….
Rihanna has released the cover art for her upcoming album, Rated R. Surprisingly, it isn’t quite as edgy as the controversial barbed wire cover that accompanied the album’s lead single, “Russian Roulette” last week.
What do you think, PopCrunchers?
Yawn: For those who care, controversial crooner Chris Brown unveiled his part dance, part G.I. Joe-themed new video on Tuesday. The whack track will be featured on Beat Down Brown’s upcoming album, Graffiti, scheduled for release on Dec. 15. The special effects-laden video — which features the prison-bound Lil Wayne and Alicia Keys’ penis supplier, Swizz Beatz — was directed by lensman Joseph Kahn, who also worked with Chris on his hit “Forever” video.
Bruce Springsteen cancelled a performance at the Sprint Center in Kansas City on Monday night after his cousin and road crew member died suddenly
The death of 36-year-old Lenny Sullivan was announced in a statement on Springsteen’s website.
Sullivan was found dead at Kansas City’s Intercontinental Hotel hours before Springsteen and the E Street Band were to take the stage. Kansas City police spokesman Capt. Rich Lockhart said officers were investigating the death, although he said it was not suspicious.
The Sprint Center Arena said tickets would be refunded.
Lily Allen is setting up her own record label after months of complaining about piracy and other issues plaguing the music industry.
“I’m setting up a record label at the moment, getting involved in lots of different things… I think things need to change in the music industry and we need to rethink a lot of stuff.”
Earlier this month, Lily announced she would take a break from recording after releasing two hit albums and a collection of Top 10 singles in the UK.
