Tim McGraw is the latest in a band of celebrities, including Pink, Kelly Clarkson, and even President Obama, sounding off on Kanye West’s treatment of teen country star Taylor Swift at Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards.
The country crooner, who was the subject of Taylor’s debut single, has some harsh words for the hip-hop heavyweight in an episode of CMT Insider, airing this Saturday, Sept. 19. “He shows himself to be an idiot every time he does stuff like that,” Tim says, adding that Kanye’s ill-mannered outburst served as a learning lesson for daughters Gracie, 12, Maggie, 11, and Audrey, 7. “[My girls] were upset. But what he did do is provide a great example of how not to be, and my girls learned a big lesson.”
He added, “When they weren’t looking I said, “He needs an a– whoopin’!”
Tim McGraw has backed out of his scheduled performance at Sunday night’s 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, Entertainment Weekly has confirmed.
A publicist for the country superstar tells EW that “due to a disagreement with show producers Tim’s manager has pulled him from the show.”
Reba McEntire will host the 2009 ACM’s, airing live on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Other entertainers slated to perform on tonight’s show include Miley Cyrus, Lady Antebellum, and Lee Ann Womack.
If you’re going to attend a Tim McGraw concert, you’d better respect the ladies! Tim had wreck shop on some drunken bozo who was trying to manhandle a young woman in the audience at an Auburn, Washington concert on Wednesday night.
