Theater Lovers are starting their Tuesday off with a mayjah case of “The Sads” upon learning the news that one of Broadway’s fastest-rising young stars has quietly lost her battle against cancer.

Shannon Tavarez, the 11-year-old actress who played Young Nala in the Broadway production of The Lion King, died in a New York City hospital on Monday, just months after her leukemia diagnosis prompted a national call to action from celebs like Rihanna, 50 Cent, and Alicia Keys.

“Flashdance: The Musical!”

A stage musical based on Flashdance, one of cinema’s most beloved romantic-dramas of the 1980s, will debut on London’s West End this week, says New York real estate mogul and Broadway producer Elie Hirschfeld, who is an investor in the hotly-anticipated production.

Flashdance: The Musical opens at The Shaftesbury Theatre in Britain this Thursday, Oct. 14, thanks to a stageplay penned by British stars Matt Willis and Victoria Hamilton-Barritt, who have crafted a stage show based on Tom Hedley and Joe Eszterhas’ 1983 screenplay.
