And then there were two! Another talent show venture has gone belly-up for ’80s pop star and acclaimed dance-master Paula Abdul.

An Epic deal for a talent show star. Melanie Amaro, who won the $5 million grand prize on last month’s nail-biting X Factor finale, signed a recording contract with Epic Records this week.

A new must follow for every dedicated Tweeter: Simon Cowell! The X Factor USA judge has amassed almost 200,000 followers since joining the microblogging website on Wednesday. Welcome him @SimonCowell to get the inside track on blurbs from one of TV’s most notorious meanies. The outspoken music mogul began Tweeting shortly before Wednesday evening’s rock-themed episode of Factor, dedicating most of his first six posts to his acts. In one Tweet, Cowell poked fun at his fellow X Factor USA judges, Nicole Scherzinger, Paula Abdul and LA Reid, by claiming he was winning in the “popularity poll.”
“I love being on twitter. Thank you for allowing me to beat the other 3 in the popularity poll. Paula looked like she’d sucked on a lemon!”

“X Factor” had several good performances on Wednesday night, but it definitely saved the best for last.
To close out the show, 13-year-old Rachel Crow took the stage and belted out a bluesy, soulful, damned awesome version of “I’d Rather Go Blind,” causing her mentor Simon Cowell to grin like the Cheshire Cat.
