The mini-mogul, now 23, had been slated to play glamorous teen socialite Schuyler van Allen on The CW Network’s adaptation of the young adult literary series Blue Bloods, according to GLOBE. Blue Bloods creator Melissa de la Cruz selected the “cool and vunerable” Mary-Kate for the role. However, Mary-Kate’s big vamp debut fell through when the network dumped the pilot in favor of another show about immortal high schools — The Vampire Diaries.

Word is CW bosses dumped Mary-Kate’s starring vehicle after deeming the show “too similar to Gossip Girl.”

Each of the three new posters features a picture of the show’s iconic apartment complex and adjoining swimming pool.

The new Melrose is working under the tagline: “No apartment building has ever been so… COMPLEX.”

“We have an absolute drop-dead gorgeous cast, we have a fun show where everybody is dating everybody else, and we wanted a scandalous kind of soap opera. We tried to capture a heightened reality of the show. We think it captures ‘Melrose’ the way ‘OMFG’ did ‘Gossip Girl,’” Rick Haskins, Head of Marketing for The CW, said in statement Thursday.

Melrose Place premieres Tuesday September 8 @ 8PM on The CW.

The CW has landed a real-life supermodel for their new fashion drama, A Beautiful Life.

TV Guide is reporting that Australian modeling legend Elle Macpherson has been cast in a recurring role as retired supermodel Claudia, who is now the iron-fisted owner of a top agency, on the show premiering this Fall.

High School Musical’s Corbin Bleu is also up for a role on A Beautiful Life, which will feature actress Mischa Barton.

Lisa Rinna isn’t the only woman in Hollywood ready to grab some hair and beat a (BLEEP) down for a role on The CW’s upcoming revival of Melrose Place.

The Rumor Mill is heating up with whispers that actresses Mischa Barton and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz are prepared to go toe-to-toe over the new show.

Mischa Barton may have landed a part on the network’s new Ashton Kutcher-produced drama A Beautiful Life, but it was the role of small-town sex kitten Violet that the former OC sar desperately wanted to make her own.

Alas, it was not to be.

Melrose producers decided new mom Ashlee, who first took her acting chops for a test run on the beloved family drama 7th Heaven, was the best actress to breathe life into the show’s Violet.

Mischa’s livid, friends of the 23-year-old reveal in the March 30 issue of The National Enquirer. She is emphatic that Ashlee, 24, aggresively hounded network executives and deliberately snatched the part originally earmarked for her.

Not so, Simpson-Wentz insiders tell the tab.

“Ashlee did well on 7th Heaven, then nailed this new part. It’s nothing personal toward Mischa.”

The possibility that Ashlee may have “out auditioned” her, winning the role of Violet fair and square, is doing little to ease Mischa’s woes.

“Mischa’s furious with Ashlee because she believes Ashlee knew that she badly wanted the part of Violet and set out to steal it!”

Mischa Barton has been ordered to start packing on the pounds or face losing her role on a new CW series.

Last week, the former O.C. actress landed the part of a supermodel on Ashton Kutcher’s upcoming drama, A Beautiful Life. But Mischa’s new job is in danger of being dashed now that show bosses have become worried that her sketal skinny frame will set a bad example for young viewers.

The Daily Express writes: “The producers are very mindful that their target audience is teenage girls so it’s important to not send out the wrong message. Mischa has the part on condition she does not lose weight – they want her to put weight on if she can.”

According to scoop from Zap2It.com, the actress best known for her role as Marissa Cooper on The O.C. tested for a role on The CW’s revamped Melrose.

The source is quoted as saying that the network is very excited about the prospect of casting Mischa on the new show, which is scheduled to debut this Fall. In 2008, The CW courted Barton for the role of Georgina Sparks on the network’s hit series Gossip Girl; the part that eventually went to Michelle Trachtenberg.

The CW has given the green light to an updated verision of the ’90s primetime soap Melrose Place.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the updated CW version of the show has received an official pilot order.

The series premiere of the new Melrose Place is expected to air this Fall.

The Jonas Brothers will take over The CW airwaves, hosting a night of 90210 and Privileged on the network next Tuesday, February 10 from 8:00 – 10:00pm.

During the special, fans will get a sneak peek of the trio’s new film, Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience, which hits theaters on February 27.

Nick, Kevin and Joe will discuss working in 3D, showcaste a clip of the trio performing their hit song “Tonight,” and release never-before-seen footage of the group.
