Now that her tenure as the Girl Next Door-turned-Fashion Vamp on MTV’s The City has come to an end, The Hills alum Whitney Port has reached a pivotal point in her maturity as a pop culture star: The Pin-Up Years.
MTV “The City” Cancelled, Whitney Port Confirms
Whitney Port is bidding buh-bye to The City.
In an interview with “On Air with Ryan Seacrest,” the bubbly fashionista confirmed rampant rumors that her Hills spinoff, The City, has been axed by MTV. Debuting to fan acclaim in Dec. 2008, the docu-soap saw native “California Gurl” Port leaving her hometown of Los Angeles for a new life in The City That Never Sleeps.
Talk about culture shock! Whitney, however, thrived as the latest addition to Diane Furstenberg’s flourishing fashion empire. Once a ratings winner, The City has been the subject of persistent cancellation buzz since production wrapped on Season 2 in July.

The application premieres in conjunction with the Oct. 2010 Anniversary issue of Elle — and as an extra treat, editors have pulled together this spoof video of MTV’s stylish docu-soap The City, featuring a cameo appearance by Jersey Shore guidette Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi.

Don’t look now, New York: MTV may be dropping a sun-soaked drama queen on your doorstep.
With The Hills set to bid au revoir to the small screen this month, Stephanie Pratt — Spencer’s slightly less batshit baby sis — has been chatting with network producers about leaving California in the dust for a brand new life in the “concrete jungle where dreams are made of.”
While nothing is set in stone just yet, the proposed move would provide the perfect opening for the ditzy blonde to join MTV’s popular-enough docu-soap The City, which stars Whitney Port and Olivia Palermo as budding fashion execs in The City That Never Sleeps.
