Sam Poueu, who appeared as a contestant on the 2010 season of the NBC weight loss reality competition The Biggest Loser, is in stable condition after suffering near-fatal injuries in a four-story fall from a roof.
Poueu, 25, fell from the roof of a San Francisco apartment building earlier this month, as he tried to climb down a fire escape at a friend’s apartment after being locked out while on the rooftop of the building. He was rushed to an intensive care unit (ICU) with head trauma and several internal injuries — including pelvic injury, a punctured lung, torn ligaments, and a broken leg. He underwent three surgeries following the Sept. 3 incident, but is finally out of the ICU and on the road to recovery, PEOPLE has learned.

There’s a new Biggest Loser. In the series’ first-ever all-female finale, Olivia Ward enjoyed a victorious final weigh-in, losing 129 pounds and gaining a $250,000 check to steal the championship from her sister, Hannah Curlee, and fellow competitor Irene Alvarado.
But she wasn’t the only winner on Tuesday’s Biggest season finale.
