Britain’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan has jumped to the defense of Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle after several British tabloids claimed that the 48-year-old lashed out at fans and police in a bitter curse-ridden tirade in a London hotel this week.

The Hairy Angel has done it again. Susan Boyle became an Internet smash last month after her stirring performance of “I Dreamed A Dream” on Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) — and now to the delight of fans and judges, the 48-year-old lifelong bachelorette from Blackburn, Scotland, has secured a spot in the show’s finale after belting out the subdued showtune “Memory,” from the musical Cats.
Members of the public voting in a telephone poll picked her as the best of the eight performers who appeared Sunday.
The shy — and sometimes odd — Susan will sing her heart one more time when BGT wraps up its current season with a finale next Saturday, May 30. The winner will perform at Britain’s annual Royal Variety Show — attended by members of the royal family — and win a 100,000 pound ($159,000) prize.
Susan Boyle has turned down a chance to meet President Barack Obama.
The Britain’s Got Talent singing sensation was invited to the White House Correspondents’, a star-studded $200-a-ticket black-tie event that supports the needy and helps fund journalism scholarships.
