Simon Cowell has hit back at rock legend Sting for dissing the music mogul’s reality singing contests as “televised karaoke.”
Last November, the former Police frontman blasted Cowell, claiming the acid-tongued Brit was exploiting talentless wannabees, who are then “humiliated” in a bid to boost television ratings on “preposterous” shows like American Idol and The X Factor.
Sting isn’t very impressed with Simon Cowell’s reality singing competition show, The X Factor. The Brit rocker recently told London’s Evening Standard: “It is a soap opera which has nothing to do with music. In fact, it has put music back decades.”
Although The X Factor has already produced an international sensation in singer Leona Lewis — whose debut album Spirit received three Grammy nominations –Sting doesn’t think the world’s next musical superstars can be found on British television.
Break out the Brain Bleach. Sting, the fifty-six year old leader singer of legendary rock band The Police, was spotted sucking the toes of his fifty-two year old wife, Trudie. Sting’s personal life has been surrounded by rumors of tantric sex and swingers’ parties; the rocker was recently captured leaving a German whorehouse.
