Newlyweds Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt cut their honeymoon short and returned stateside — complete with surgical masks — on Wednesday.

The controversial stars of MTV’s The Hills — who were married in Pasadena last Saturday — were forced to abandon their post-nup plans in Cabo San Lucas once the frightening swine flu epidemic created international pandemonium after killing nearly 200 people in Mexico.

Newlyweds Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag are steering clear of the swine flu.

The stars of MTV’s The Hills – who tied the knot in Pasadena on Saturday — made the trip to Cabo San Lucas on Sunday to shoot a music video for the bride’s latest murdered hit “Sex Ed,” but the two are heading home and ending their brief honeymoon early because of the influenza outbreak in the country.

“After the best day of both our lives, Heidi and I left L.A. Sunday for Cabo to shoot the music video for Heidi’s new single ‘Blackout’. We planned to stay through Sunday,” Spencer said Wednesday. “Unfortunately, due to the pig flu epidemic, the Pratts are headed home this evening. Heidi’s new EP is available on iTunes today. Check it out!”

No one wants to buy Heidi & Spencer’s wedding pictures….

Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag will wed in a private wedding ceremony outside Los Angeles on Saturday, but it looks like fans of MTV’s The Hills won’t get a pictorial of the scheming duo finally becoming one after two failed attempts to make it to the altar.

In sign of the tough economic times, MSNBC claims Heidi and Spencer failed to land a lucrative deal with any of the weekly gossip magazines — ie: In Touch Weekly, PEOPLE, OK!, or Life & Style – for the sale of exclusive first-rights to their wedding photographs.

Why? No one weekly was willing to spend the cash the couple wanted.

On Tuesday, producers of The Hills confirmed that cameras will be on-hand at tomorrow’s ceremony to shoot footage for an upcoming episode.

Well now we know why LC won’t be in the house when Heidi and Spencer exchange vows this weekend.

Lauren Conrad always believed that Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag were behind a rumor claiming she had recorded herself having sex with former bad boy BF Jason Wahler, but the pair consistently denied any involvement in the scandalous act –until now, that is.
