
So You Think You Can Dance has unveiled the list of all-star former contestants who will partner up with this season’s aspiring champions. They will pair each week with the 2010 contestants who are vying for a $250,000 cash prize and a dance magazine cover feature. Each week, this year’s Top 10 contestants will draw the name of an all-star and perform in the style perfected by that dancer.
“The whole reason for doing it is to make the show more exciting…Some of these brilliant dancers (from past seasons) have just disappeared off the face of the earth. To be able to have this show use its own talent is fabulous….”series creator and judge Nigel Lythgoe said last month.
The new season of SYTYCD kicks into high gear May 7.

A few major shake-ups are headed for the new season of FOX’s summer reality hit, So You Think You Can Dance. The forthcoming 7th season of SYTYCD will feature a group of “all-stars” from past seasons when the show returns in May, series executive producer Nigel Lythgoe told reporters on Monday.

When So You Think You Can Dance returns for a new season on FOX this spring, there’ll be at least one major new rule in place that will change how contestants are eliminated.
Executive producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe took to his Twitter page Thursday to reveal that from now on just one dancer will be booted from the show every week, rather than the usual two. The previous format for the show saw one male and one female dancer being voted off each week.

The seventh season of So You Think You Can Dance will premiere Thursday, May 27, FOX said Thursday.


For months, So You Think You Can Dance producer/ judge Nigel Lythgoe has been Tweeting anyone who will listen with the news that he’s personally invited Paula Abdul – who was an American Idol judge during his reign as the show’s producer – to appear as a judge on his hit FOX reality dance competition.
“I spoke to her yesterday morning… And I said we were going to Vegas for [‘SYTYCD’] Season 6 this weekend and what was she doing? Did she want a break? And she’s coming out to me and we’re going to talk about the opportunities there are out there,” Nigel told reporters during a FOX Television Critics Association panel in Pasadena last July.
But celebrity tattles tell The National Enquirer’s Mike Walker that an on-going feud between the former colleagues will prevent the famed former pop star and Idol judge from bringing her extensive dance/choreographer background to SYTYCD.
