Shanna Moakler appeared on The Wendy Williams Show on Tuesday, where she promoted her new cosmetics line, announced she is returning to her post as co-executive director of the Miss California USA pageant, and took an unprovoked jab at E! reality star Khloe Kardashian.
Whaddup with that?
On Monday, ousted beauty queen Carrie Prejean sued the Miss California USA pageant and former co-executive director Shanna Moakler alleging religious discrimination. The suit has drawn a sharp-tongued rebuttal from former Miss USA Moakler.
In June, pageant officials fired Prejean, who famously voiced her opposition to same sex marriage during the 2009 Miss USA pageant, prompting a feud with celebrity blogger Perez Hilton. At the time, Miss California officials claimed Prejean missed several scheduled appearances. She was replaced by Miss California runner-up Tami Farrell.
“On Ms. Moakler’s behalf, I can say unequivocally that Ms. Prejean’s lawsuit is without merit,” says Mel Avanzado, Moakler’s lawyer.
“More importantly, as everyone who watched or read her public statements is well aware, Ms. Prejean’s unfortunate and bigoted statements are responsible for any public humiliation or damages to her reputation that she has claimed to have suffered,” Avanzado added. “Ms. Moakler strenuously denies that she did anything wrong and looks forward to proving that in a court of law.”
After learning that former Miss California USA Carrie Prejean was stripped of her title on Wednesday due to breach of contract, Shanna Moakler, the former co-executive director of the Miss California Organization, has released a statement supporting the organization’s decision to oust Prejean.
