Twain may step in for exiting judge Paula Abdul on the judging panel in Chicago on Aug. 30-31, according to a PEOPLE.com report.

Victoria Beckham filled in for Abdul in Boston earlier this month, while Mary J. will join the Idol fold in Atlanta later this week.

Shania Twain made her first public appearance since the humiliating split from her estranged husband, Mutt Lange, at the 42nd Annual CMA Awards in Nashville on Wednesday.

The country songstress was on-hand to present the night’s “Entertainer of the Year” Award to singer Kenny Chesney.

Shania Twain is asking for time to heal in the wake of her impending divorce. The award-winning songstress announced her split from husband of fourteen years Robert “Mutt” Lange last month. The music producer’s widely-rumored affair with a family assistant is believed to be at the root of the split. A “heartbroken” Shania posted a notice thanking her legion of fans for their love and support on her Official Website on Thursday.

The Swiss secretary accused of carrying on a clandestine affair with Shania Twain’s producer husband, Robert “Mutt” Lange, has issued a statement denying she had anything to do with the dissolution of the couple’s fourteen year marriage.

“I know what you’re ringing to ask me about. But, when marriages break up they break up for all sorts of complicated reasons, it’s never just one reason. And those reasons should be kept private,” Marie-Anne Thiébaud said in a telephone interview on Thursday.

“If you’re looking for a person that broke up a marriage then you have the wrong person. I’m not that person.”

Marie-Anne says she is retired and no longer works for Mutt and Shania.
