Has Scrubs finally flat-lined? According to series star Zach Braff, after nine seasons and two networks, the long-running spoof medical comedy is a goner.

Braff says the ABC series won’t return for a tenth season next fall: “Many of you have asked, so here it is: It appears that ‘New Scrubs,’ ‘Scrubs 2.0,’ ‘Scrubs with new kids,’ ‘Scrubbier,’ ‘Scrubs without JD’ is no more. It was worth a try, but alas … it didn’t work. zb…..” Zach announced on his Facebook page this week.

Scrubs’ Donald Faison has been cast in a CBS pilot, but the new gig has left the actor’s future on the long-running comedy in doubt. Faison, best known for his role as Turk on Scrubs, will reportedly play a lead homicide detective in a group of outrageous cops from Las Vegas. The casting news has sparked rumors that Scrubs – which moved from its network home at NBC to ABC last season — may be axed for good.

The new season of Scrubs will premiere Dec. 1, ABC announced Wednesday. Big changes are in store during the ninth season of the veteran comedy series, including the ditching of its hospital setting and the introduction of a mostly new cast.

Scrubs returns with back-to-back episodes Dec. 1 @ 9PM , moving to its regular Tuesday 9 p.m. time slot the following week.

On Monday, an online report emerged, claiming that the Garden State star had taken his own life. The death rumors began circulating after this “breaking news story” in a fake CNN.com template popped up on Twitter. Braff’s fake death announcement caused quite a stir on the microblogging website, where it remained a trending topic for the duration of the day.
