Just two weeks after publication, the best-selling political memoir from controversial former GOP VP candidate Sarah Palin has sold 1 million copies, HarperCollins spokeswoman Tina Andreadis said Tuesday.
The print run for the book has been increased from 2.5 million to 2.8 million copies to accomodate the growing demand, according to the publisher. Going Rogue joins an elite group of political bios that have surpassed the 1 million mark, including President Obama’s The Audacity of Hope, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s Living History, and former President Bill Clinton’s My Life.
We guess it’s safe to say that if convicted felon Martha Stewart still had her right to vote, she wouldn’t have used it on the McCain/Palin ticket. Rachael Ray isn’t the only one getting the shaft from The High Priestess of Homemaking these days. Martha, who just last week slammed Ray as a fraud, used some biting language to describe the former Governor of Alaska Stewart in a red carpet chat with CNN’s Headline News this weekend:
“She’s very boring to me, very boring. And a very, to me, kind of a dangerous person. I mean, she’s dangerous. She speaks, she’s, she’s so confused. And anyone like that in government is a real problem,” Stewart spat.
You bet’cha! Oprah Winfrey’s interview with Sarah Palin sent ratings through the roof.
Monday’s Oprah, which featured an interview with the former Alaska governor and GOP VP candidate, snagged a 7.2 rating. In fact, the chat yielded O her best ratings in two years.
The Live Feed’s James Hibberd notes that the Nov. 16 episode drew an 8.7 household rating and 13 share, the highest since Oprah hosted the Osmonds in 2007. Palin, seen here with The Queen of Talk and daughters Willow and Piper, is promoting her memoir titled Going Rogue. The Oprah visit came on the heels of a rumor that the media mogul snubbed Palin during the 2008 presidential campaign.
Newsweek Magazine has sparked controversy this week after reusing a Runner’s World photo of Sarah Palin, barelegged and sporting shorts, on the cover of this week’s issue. The ex-GOP VP candidate slammed the news magazine in a scathing Facebook blog late Monday. Palin calls the photo selection a sexist and strategic manuever engineered by the liberal media to distract attention from the release of the former Alaska governor’s memoir, Going Rogue – available now.
“The choice of photo for the cover of this week’s Newsweek is unfortunate. The Runner’s World magazine one-page profile for which this photo was taken was all about health and fitness — a subject to which I am devoted and which is critically important to this nation. The out-of-context Newsweek approach is sexist and oh-so-expected by now.”
What do you think PopCrunchers, is the Newsweek cover inappropriate?
