Babs Walters isn’t the only person who hates Bruno….
Bruno, Sacha Baron Cohen’s controversial comedy, has been banned in the Ukraine. The film about a gay Austrian fashion reporter will not be shown int he conservative former Soviet nation due to its scenes of nudity and homosexual sex, the culture ministry said on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, culture ministry commission concluded Bruno included an “artistically unjustified exhibition of sexual organs and sexual relations, homosexual acts in a blatantly graphic form, obscene language, sadism, anti-social behaviour which could damage the moral upbringing of our citizens.”
In 2006, Ukraine banned Borat, Cohen’s satire aimed at demasking bigotry and anti-Semitism in the United States.
Bruno, which opened in North American theaters Friday, was the No. 1 movie in America last weekend.
Barbara Walters has a bone to pick with Bruno. Babs claims she was left disgusted and outraged by Sacha Baron Cohen’s box office hit — and wants the world to know it.
During a heated debate during The Hot Topics segment of The View Tuesday, the veteran newswoman complained that she found movie boring and “very pornographic” for its R rating. Apparently, BW didn’t enjoy seeing close-ups of penises and anal sex. Barbara also discussed her concerns over parents bringing their children to see the comedy.

Austria’s international man of fashion got good news and bad news at the box office this weekend.
Sacha Baron Cohen’s mock documentary Bruno landed the No. 1 spot at the weekend box office, starting big on opening day Friday but suffered a huge drop the rest of the weekend, finishing with $30.4 million, according to early studio estimates. Read the rest of this entry »
