Sacha Baron Cohen will lend his voice to a character on an upcoming episode of The Simpsons, series executive producer Al Jean told Entertainment Weekly on Friday.

Cohen will play a “pretty angry but funny” Israeli tour guide who encounters The Simpsons when they take a trip to the Holy Land with their church group. The episode, entitled “The Greatest Story Ever D’ohed,” will also feature Homer believing he’s the messiah.

“He’s trying to get Marge to give him good grades on the comment card,” Jean tells EW. “And she goes, ‘You people are pushy,’ and he goes, ‘What do you mean, ‘you people’? You try having Syria for a neighbour! What do you have — Canada?’”

Sacha Baron Cohen will spoof a European pop star in his next movie.

The British comic will portray a singer who enters the Eurovision Song Contest – an annual singing competition previously won by ’70s Swedish pop-rock act ABBA. The still-untitled movie is expected to be another fake documentary, in the style of Cohen’s previous hit Bruno and Borat.

Cohen originally planned to resurrect the character from his current hit film Bruno – in which he plays a gay Austrian fashion god- but he and writing partner Dan Mazer decided against it after concluding that the Bruno character has become too recognizable.

“He and Dan thought it would be better if Sacha dreamt up another character, and the scope for another oddball creation is huge.”

The script is ready and the film is expected to be released in 2011.

The funnyman has sparked controversy worldwide with the release of his movie Bruno, based on an outrageous Austrian fashionista.

According to Britain’s Star, lawyers for Cohen have confirmed that the star is being targeted by a group “that has claimed responsibility for recent terrorist attacks” thanks to his recent antics on the big screen.

In the film, Bruno is kidnapped by the armed Al Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade and is seen ridiculing the Islamic group’s leader Ayman Abu Aita.

In a statement, the Martyrs’ Brigade says, “This was a dirty use of our brother Ayman and we don’t accept that the name of the Al Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade is part of the movie. We reserve the right to respond in the way that we feel suitable.”

The British prankster, 37, has decided it is time to send Bruno to bed after figuring out he that can no longer get away with his outrageous set-ups because too many people recognize the Austrian fashionista.

Cohen will officially bid farewell to the controversial character once he has finished promoting the movie.

He says, “It’s wonderful that the films are successful, but every new person who sees the movie is one less person I can be Borat or Bruno with again, so finishing a movie means having to say goodbye. Admitting that you’re never going to play the character again is like saying goodbye to a loved one. And that’s hard.”

On Wednesday, culture ministry commission concluded Bruno included an “artistically unjustified exhibition of sexual organs and sexual relations, homosexual acts in a blatantly graphic form, obscene language, sadism, anti-social behaviour which could damage the moral upbringing of our citizens.”

In 2006, Ukraine banned Borat, Cohen’s satire aimed at demasking bigotry and anti-Semitism in the United States.

Bruno, which opened in North American theaters Friday, was the No. 1 movie in America last weekend.

A woman who filed a lawsuit against Sacha Baron Cohen for allegedly leaving her permanently disabled her during filming for outrageous new comedy Bruno is changing her story.

Richelle Olson filed suit against Cohen and studio chiefs at NBC Universal, claiming she was injured in a stunt at a bingo hall in Palmdale, California in 2007.

She claimed the comic — in character as gay fashionista Bruno — used “vulgar and offensive language” when he took to the stage to call the numbers during the charity bingo game – and when she tried to snatch the microphone from him she reports a “physical struggle ensued.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Olson alleged the incident had left her wheelchair bound after she suffered “brain bleeds,” but changed her tune after producers at NBC Universal unearthed footage they insisted proved Cohen “never touched” the alleged victim – Olson and her legal team seemingly quickly took a different route.

She has now dropped her claims of assault and battery, opting to instead sue Cohen for “emotional damage.”

Austria’s international man of fashion got good news and bad news at the box office this weekend.

Sacha Baron Cohen’s mock documentary Bruno landed the No. 1 spot at the weekend box office, starting big on opening day Friday but suffered a huge drop the rest of the weekend, finishing with $30.4 million, according to early studio estimates.

Revenues for hit movies typically go up on Saturday, so the tank in ticket sales for Bruno could be a sign that the comedy lacks staying power.

The movie took in nearly half of its weekend total — $14.4 million — on Friday, then nosedived with just $8.8 million Saturday and an estimated $7.2 million Sunday.

“It is unusual for a film to drop on Saturday. Normally, you expect the film at least to be even on Saturday or above compared to Friday, because Saturday is the biggest moviegoing day of the weekend,” says Paul Dergarabedian, box-office analyst for Hollywood.com. “It’s going to be interesting to see how it does over the long run.”
