Robert Downey Jr. has earned the Hugh Hefner Seal of Approval to portray the men’s magazine boss in a proposed biopic based on his life.
Over the past year, the Iron Man has regularly expressed an interest in taking on the lead role in a retelling of the aging Lothario’s life story — but he has now been given the green light from Hef himself.
“Downey and I have talked about it and it is a very real possibility. He’s a marvelous actor and I would be honored if he decided to do it…”

On Friday, Paramount Pictures released the first still image of actor Robert Downey Jr. in character as billionaire industrialist Tony Stark in the upcoming superhero blockbuster, Iron Man 2.
The sequel to the 2008 box office smash is currently in production and slated for a May 2010 release.

Paramount Pictures and Marvel Comics are so pleased with Robert Downey Jr.’s blockbuster performance in this summer’s supehero action hit Iron Man they’ve presented the actor with a $200,000 Bentley as a token of thanks.
“Robert was shocked when they gave it to him,” one inside source spills to Star. “But he was so grateful and he is so happy he’s made a comeback.”
Iron Man has grossed more than $600 million worldwide since premiering in May.
