Ricky Gervais was funny, restrained and didn’t offend quite as many A-listers as last year. Maybe it was due to the fact that the show was running behind and a few of Gervais’ moments were cut short but whatever it was overall, it was a great night for the Hollywood.
“For any of you who don’t know, the Golden Globes are just like the Oscars, but without all that esteem,” Gervais teased. Gervais suddely went after Madonna and George Clooney during their presentations as well.

Side-splitting British comic Ricky Gervais has supposedly been invited to trade barbs with Hollywood’s elite as host of the 2012 Golden Globe Awards — this despite a firestorm of controversy over Gervais’ biting commentary at last month’s ceremony
The British funnyman says that in spite of his controversial routine — which saw him poke fun at Robert Downey Jr., Hugh Hefner, and even the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which produces the Globes — organizers would love for him to preside over the awards show for a third time.
