robin_williams.jpgAfter nearly 20 years of sobriety, Robin Williams, 55, has entered rehab for alcoholism to finally kick the habit.

After announcing Williams’ intentions on Wednesday, his publicist reported that “[Williams] looks forward to returning to work this fall to support his upcoming film releases.” In addition to “The Night Listener,” which opened last week, Williams has three movies pending release to theaters this year.

Once he found himself drinking again after two decades of sobriety, William’s decided that he needed to quit for the sake of his well-being and the well-being of his family, his publicist reported. Shooting to fame as the beloved star of “Mork and Mindy” in the 1970’s, William’s has received several Academy Awards Nominations for later works.

Mel Gibson has entered a rehab program, following his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. He is pictured here in the Los Angeles County Sheriff Depertment’s booking photo.

Unfortunately, the suspected drunk driving and rehab are not the biggest stories here. In Gibson’s public apology this weekend he said, “I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested, and said things that I do not believe to be true and which are despicable. I am deeply ashamed of everything I said, and I apologize to anyone who I have offended.”

This set off a flurry of speculation as to what Gibson said and did during his arrest, and although details are sketchy the rumors are that he made several angry comments expressing feelings of anti-Semitism.

This is sad. Mel Gibson was one of the few Hollywood stars that seemed to really have it all pulled together. I’ll be very interested to hear the facts, when they finally come out.

The full story about the facts we do know, and a video of L.A. authorities denying that Gibson received special treatment, can be found at CNN Entertainment.

ajudd.jpgLast February, 38 year old star Ashley Judd endured over a month’s-long stay at a Texas treatment center to overcome serious issues she’s grappled with her entire life.

Depression, isolation and co-dependent relationships are but a few of the problems Judd underwent treatment for, she admitted to Glamour magazine.

“I was in so much pain,” she says, “I needed help.”

Help came, and now she says she’s able to take life one day a time. A quotation attributed to Eleanor Roosevelt, Judd says these words allow her to take responsbility for her own feelings.

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”

Follow up on Judd’s emotional roller coaster ride here.
