“[Ellen] can be the voice of the people among us,” Jackson said Fox & Friends on Thursday morning. The record producer was responding to a question of whether it was “okay” for Ellen to judge a singing competition when the comedienne has virtual no background in music.

“I think between me, Simon [Cowell] and Kara [DioGuardi], there’s enough musical experts to go around right there,” he added. “Dude, listen, I love Ellen. … I think she’s going to bring a really interesting, different perspective to the people [and] to the panel.”

American Idol judge Randy Jackson will have plenty to keep him busy while the FOX talent competitionn takes a six month hiatus after tonight’s eighth season finale. The record producer will reportedly use his expertise as a husband and father of three daughters to launch a new line of women’s accessories — which will include a signature collection of handbags.

Randy took a business meeting last week at the W Los Angeles-Westwood to discuss marketing the line.

“Randy met with a PR agency to discuss how to market a new line of handbags, but he had to cut the meeting short to film ‘Idol,’” a source revealed to The NY Daily News on Wednesday.
